Monument Valley: Sunset Tour with Navajo Guide

Who This Trip Suits
Three hours with a Navajo guide that end in the golden hour, with the Mittens lit red. The tour starts at The View Hotel, follows the Valley Drive past the West and East Mittens, the Three Sisters and John Ford Point, goes into the backcountry to the Big Hogan, Moccasin Arch and Sun’s Eye, and stops at a traditional hogan, where there is often a rug-weaving demonstration and a song from your guide. It is rated 4.8 from 1,956 reviews.
One recent guest worried that “a three hour tour would seem long” and found it wasn’t; another wrote that the guide “even helped us take photos at an amazing spot”. In warm months the vehicle is an open-air truck, and in cold months an enclosed van.
Practical points from the listing: start times follow the sunset, so check the time for your date in the calendar. The tour runs on Navajo Nation time, an hour ahead of the rest of Arizona from March to early November. The park entry, $10 a person, is paid at the gate. It is not suitable for pregnant women. Bring a warm layer for after dark.
The price is from $78 a person (checked October 2026), with free cancellation up to 24 hours before. The sunset tour page compares it with the sunrise departures, and the jeep tour page with the daytime tours.
